DTC C1258/58 Transfer 4WD Position Switch Circuit; DTC C1282/82 Center Differential Lock Position Switch Malfunction (Test Mode DTC): Procedure
- INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (EXI4 TERMINAL VOLTAGE)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Measure the voltage.Standard voltage:
Tester Connection Transfer Condition Specified Condition A4-27 (EXI) - Body ground L4 Below 1.5 V A4-27 (EXI) - Body ground Other than above 8 to 14 V NG: INSPECT TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH (for L4 POSITION)
- PERFORM TEST MODE INSPECTION (SIGNAL CHECK)
- RECONFIRM DTC
- Clear the DTC.
- Check if the same DTC is recorded.
Result:
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONResult Proceed to DTC output A DTC not output B
A: REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID
B: END
- INSPECT TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH (for L4 POSITION)
- Disconnect the transfer indicator switch (for L4 position) connector.
- Remove the transfer indicator switch (for L4 position).
- Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
RESULT CHARTTester Connection Switch Position Specified Condition 1 - 2 Pushed Below 1 Ω 1 - 2 Free 10 kΩ or higher

NG: REPLACE TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH (for L4 POSITION)
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH)
- Disconnect the transfer indicator switch (4WD position) connector.
- Disconnect the transfer indicator switch (for L4 position) connector.
- Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Specified Condition A4-27 (EXI) - B40-1 Below 1 Ω A4-27 (EXI) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - ECM)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Specified Condition A4-27 (EXI) - B3-13 (L4) Below 1 Ω A4-27 (EXI) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher B3-13 (L4) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - FOUR WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL ECU)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Disconnect the 4WD control ECU connector.
- Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Specified Condition A4-27 (EXI) - B4-8 (ADD) Below 1 Ω A4-27 (EXI) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- REPLACE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL ECU
- Replace the four wheel drive control ECU.
- RECONFIRM DTC
- Clear the DTC (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
- Check if the same DTC is recorded (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR
).

A: REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID (See DISASSEMBLY )
- INSPECT TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH (for CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LOCK POSITION)
- Disconnect the transfer indicator switch (center differential lock position) connector.
- Remove the transfer indicator switch (center differential lock position).
- Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Switch Position Specified Condition 1-2 Pushed Below 1 Ω 1-2 Released 10 kΩ or higher

OK: Go to next step

- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Disconnect the transfer indicator switch (center differential lock position) connector.
- Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance
