Inspection Procedure

NOTE: Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.
  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (ACTIVATE THE VSV FOR AICS) 
    1. Disconnect the 2 hoses from the VSV for air intake control valve.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine/Active Test/Activate the VSV for AICS.
    4. Check the operation of the VSV when the VSV is operated by the Techstream.

      Standard 

      TECHSTREAM OPERATION CHART

      Techstream Operation Specified Condition
      VSV is ON Air from port E flows out through port F
      VSV is OFF Air from port E flows out through the air filter

      NG: Go to step  4

      OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT VACUUM TANK 
    1. Inspect the vacuum tank (See VACUUM TANK ).

      NG: REPLACE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY 

      OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the intake air control valve assembly (See INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE (FOR INTAKE AIR CONTROL SYSTEM) ).

      NG: REPLACE NO. 3 INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY 

      OK: PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE )

  4. INSPECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (VSV FOR AICV) 
    1. Inspect the VSV for air intake control valve (See VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (FOR INTAKE AIR CONTROL SYSTEM) ).

      NG: REPLACE VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )

      OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AICV VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the VSV for air intake control valve connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A10-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (EFI NO. 3 FUSE - VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE)

      OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the VSV for air intake control valve connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open) 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A10-2-B51-35 (AICV) Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short) 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A10-2 or B51-35 (AICV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the ECM connector.

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

      OK: REPLACE ECM  (See INSPECTION PROCEDURE  )
