Inspection Procedure
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (ACTIVE THE FUEL PUMP SPEED CONTROL)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine/Active Test/Control the Fuel Pump/Speed.
- Check whether the fuel pump operating sound occurs when performing the Active Test on the Techstream.
OK:
Fuel pump operating sound occurs.
NG: Go to step 2
OK: PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE )
- INSPECT RELAY (C/OPN RELAY)
- Remove the C/OPN relay from the engine room relay block.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 5 Battery voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher Battery voltage applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω - Reinstall the C/OPN relay.
NG: REPLACE RELAY (C/OPN RELAY)
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (C/OPN RELAY - ECM)
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Remove the C/OPN relay from the engine room relay block.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Condition Specified Condition D60-34 (FC) - C/OPN relay terminal 2 Always Below 1 Ω Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Condition Specified Condition D60-34 (FC) or C/OPN relay terminal 2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher - Reconnect the ECM connector.
- Reinstall the C/OPN relay.
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT ENGINE ROOM RELAY BLOCK (IG2 RELAY - C/OPN RELAY)
- Remove the IG2 relay from the engine room relay block.
- Remove the C/OPN relay from the engine room relay block.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Condition Specified Condition IG2 relay terminal 3 - C/OPN relay terminal 1 Always Below 1 Ω Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Condition Specified Condition IG2 relay terminal 3 or C/OPN relay terminal 1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher - Reinstall the IG2 relay.
- Reinstall the C/OPN relay.

OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (C/OPN RELAY - FUEL PUMP)
- Remove the C/OPN relay from the engine room relay block.
- Disconnect the fuel pump connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Condition Specified Condition C/OPN relay terminal 3-O9-4 Always Below 1 Ω Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Condition Specified Condition C/OPN relay terminal 3 or O9-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher - Reinstall the C/OPN relay.
- Reconnect the fuel pump connector.
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL PUMP - BODY GROUND)
- Disconnect the fuel pump connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Condition Specified Condition O9-5 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω - Reconnect the fuel pump connector.
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT FUEL PUMP
- Inspect the fuel pump (See INSPECTION
).
NG: REPLACE FUEL PUMP (See REMOVAL )
OK: REPLACE ECM (See REMOVAL )
- Inspect the fuel pump (See INSPECTION
).
