Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (ACTIVATE THE VSV FOR AICS) 
    1. Disconnect the 2 hoses from the VSV for air intake control valve.
    2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the tester on.
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain/Engine and ECT/Active Test/Activate the VSV for AICS.
    4. Check the operation of the VSV when the VSV is operated by the tester.

      Standard 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Operation Specified Condition
      VSV is ON Air from port E flows out through port F
      VSV is OFF Air from port E flows out through the air filter

      NG: Go to step  3

      OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT VACUUM TANK 
    1. Inspect the vacuum tank (See VACUUM TANK ).

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE AIR CLEANER CAP 

      OK: CHECK ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT  (See ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT  )

  3. CHECK VSV (FOR AICV) 
    1. Inspect the VSV for AICV (See REMOVAL ).

      NG: REPLACE VSV (FOR AICV)  (See VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE )

      OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT TERMINAL VOLTAGE (VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the VSV for air intake control valve connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - Body ground Ignition switch on (IG) 9 to 14 V

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (EFI NO. 3 FUSE - VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE)

      OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the VSV for air intake control valve connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance: 

      Check for open 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A10-2 (VSV for AICV) - B1-27 (AICV) Always Below 1 Ω

      Check for short 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A10-2 (VSV for AICV) or B1-27 (AICV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the ECM connector.

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AICV - ECM)

      OK: REPLACE ECM  (See REMOVAL  )
