On-Vehicle Inspection

  1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
    3. Start the engine and warm it up.
    4. Select Active Test menu on the Techstream.
    5. Check the engine speed when the OCV (camshaft timing oil control valve) is operated by Techstream.
      TESTER DISPLAY CHART

      Taster Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Control the VVT Linear (Bank 1) VVT (bank 1 intake side) Between -128 and 127% This valve added to present OCV control duty
      100%: Maximum advance -100%: Maximum retard
      Engine stalls or idles roughly when VVT actuator operated by 100%. Test is possible while idling.
      Control the VVT System (Bank 1) Oil control valve ON/OFF
      • Engine stalls or idles roughly when oil control valve turned ON
      • Normal engine running or idling when oil control valve OFF
      Control the VVT Linear (Bank 2) VVT (bank 2 intake side) Between -128 and 127% Same as above
      Control the VVT System (Bank 2) Oil control valve ON/OFF
      • Engine stalls or idles roughly when oil control valve turned ON
      • Normal engine running or idling when oil control valve OFF
      Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 1) VVT (bank 1 exhaust side) Between-128 and 127% This valve added to present OCV control duty
      100%: Maximum retard -100%: Maximum advance
      Same as above
      Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 2) VVT (bank 2 exhaust side) Same as above Same as above
