Inspection Procedure
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (ACTIVATE THE VSV FOR AICS)
- Disconnect the 2 hoses from the VSV for air intake control valve.
- Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the tester on.
- Select the following menu items: Powertrain/Engine and ECT/Active Test/Activate the VSV for AICS.
- Check the operation of the VSV when the VSV is operated by the tester.
Standard
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Operation Specified Condition VSV is ON Air from port E flows out through port F VSV is OFF Air from port E flows out through the air filter NG: Go to step 3
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT VACUUM TANK
- Inspect the vacuum tank (See VACUUM TANK
).
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE AIR CLEANER CAP
OK: CHECK ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT (See ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT )
- Inspect the vacuum tank (See VACUUM TANK
).
- CHECK VSV (FOR AICV)
- Inspect the VSV for AICV (See REMOVAL
).
NG: REPLACE VSV (FOR AICV) (See VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE )
OK: Go to next step
- Inspect the VSV for AICV (See REMOVAL
).
- INSPECT TERMINAL VOLTAGE (VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE CONNECTOR)
- Disconnect the VSV for air intake control valve connector.
- Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 1 - Body ground Ignition switch on (IG) 9 to 14 V NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (EFI NO. 3 FUSE - VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE)

OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE - ECM)
- Disconnect the VSV for air intake control valve connector.
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
Check for open
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Condition Specified Condition A10-2 (VSV for AICV) - B1-27 (AICV) Always Below 1 Ω Check for short
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Condition Specified Condition A10-2 (VSV for AICV) or B1-27 (AICV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher - Reconnect the ECM connector.
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AICV - ECM)

OK: REPLACE ECM (See REMOVAL )
