Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check the radio automatic station search function.
      1. Check the radio automatic station search function by activating it.

        OK: The radio automatic station search function works properly  .

        NG: Go to step   2 

        OK: REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

  2. CHECK OPTIONAL COMPONENTS 
    1. Check optional components (window tint film, telephone antenna, etc.).
      1. Check if any optional components that may decrease reception capacity, such as window tint film or a telephone antenna, are installed.

        OK: Optional components are installed  .

        NOTE: Do not remove any optional components installed by the customer without his or her consent.

        NG: Go to step   3 

        OK: REMOVE OPTIONAL COMPONENTS AND CHECK AGAIN (SEE NOTE ABOVE) 

  3. CHECK NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Preparation for check
      1. Remove the antenna plug from the navigation receiver assembly.
    2. Check for noise
      1. Turn the ignition switch to ACC with the navigation receiver assembly connector connected.
      2. Turn the radio on and tune into AM mode.
      3. Place a screwdriver, thin wire, or other metal object on the navigation receiver assembly antenna jack and check that noise can be heard from the speakers.

        OK: Noise occurs  .

        NG: REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

        OK: Go to Next Step 

  4. CHECK ROOF ANTENNA 
    1. Check that the roof antenna is securely installed.

      OK: The roof antenna is installed properly  .

      NG: REINSTALL OR REPLACE ROOF ANTENNA  (See REMOVAL )

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - ANTENNA AMPLIFIER) 
    1. Disconnect the navigation receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the antenna amplifier connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E1-8 (ANT) - E3-1 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      E1-8 (ANT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  6. INSPECT NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the navigation receiver assembly connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      STANDARD VOLTAGE REFERENCE CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E3-1 (B) - Body ground Ignition switch ON
      Radio switch ON
      11 to 14 V

      NG: REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  7. CHECK ANTENNA CORD 
    1. Remove the antenna plug of the navigation receiver assembly and antenna.
    2. Measure the resistance between the antenna and navigation receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the antenna cord.

      Standard Resistance: Below 1 Ω 

    3. Measure the resistance between the antenna cord and body ground to check for a short circuit in the antenna cord.

      Standard Resistance: 10 kΩ or higher 

      NG: REPLACE ANTENNA CORD  (See REMOVAL )

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  8. REPLACE ANTENNA AMPLIFIER 
    1. Replace the antenna amplifier and check if radio broadcasts can be received normally (See REMOVAL ).

      OK: Radio broadcasts can be received  .

      NG: REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

      OK: NORMAL OPERATION
