Inspection Procedure

NOTE: If the steering column or power steering ECU is replaced, perform rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION  ).
  1. CHECK FOR DTC (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      OK: 

      DTC is not output  .

      NG: GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  2. CHECK FOR DTC (POWER STEERING SYSTEM) 
    1. Check for DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output. A
      DTC C1551 or C1552 is output. B

      B: REPAIR CIRCUITS INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTCS  (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  )

      A: Go to Next Step 

  3. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check the combination meter assembly condition.
      1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
      2. Check that the P/S warning light comes on for 3 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to ON.

        OK: 

        The combination meter assembly operates normally  .

        NG: GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

        OK: REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU  (See POWER STEERING ECU  )
