Inspection Procedure

  1. INSPECT STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E34-1 (MUTE) - Body ground Ignition switch ACC, Audio system is playing → Changing sources Above 3.5 V → Below 1 V

      NG: Go to step   2 

      OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  )

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER) 
    1. Disconnect the radio receiver connector and the stereo component amplifier connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E40-7 (MUTE) - E34-1 (MUTE) Always Below 1 Ω
      E40-7 (MUTE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  3. INSPECT STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER (OUTPUT SIGNAL) 
    1. Reconnect the stereo component amplifier connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E40-7 (MUTE) - Body ground Ignition switch ACC, Audio system is playing. Above 3.5 V

      NG: REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER  (See REMOVAL  )

      OK: REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER  (See REMOVAL  )
