BRAKE ACTUATOR (w/ VSC): Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL RH 
  3. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY (for 2ZR-FE) 

    HINT:

    Refer to the instructions for Removal of the generator assembly (See REMOVAL ).

  4. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY (for 2AZ-FE) 

    HINT:

    Refer to the instructions for Removal of the generator assembly (See REMOVAL ).

  5. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID 
    NOTE: If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately wash it off.
  6. REMOVE RADIATOR RESERVE TANK SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and radiator reserve tank sub-assembly.
  7. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY 

    HINT:

    Refer to the instructions for Removal of the front bumper assembly (See REMOVAL ).

  8. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WASHER JAR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and clamp and disconnect the motor connectors.
    2. Separate the washer hoses from the windshield washer jar assembly.

    3. Remove the 2 bolts, clamp and the windshield washer jar assembly from the body.

  9. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH BRACKET 
    1. Release the lock lever and disconnect the brake actuator connector.
      NOTE: Be careful not to allow brake fluid to enter the removed connector.

    2. Remove the bolt.

    3. Using a union nut wrench (10 mm), disconnect the 6 brake lines from the actuator assembly.

    4. Use tags or make a memo to identify the places to reconnect.

      HINT:

      • *1: To front wheel cylinder RH
      • *2: To front wheel cylinder LH
      • *3: To rear wheel cylinder RH
      • *4: To rear wheel cylinder LH
      • *5: From 1st master cylinder
      • *6: From 2nd master cylinder

    5. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and brake actuator with bracket from the body.
      NOTE:
      • Do not damage the brake lines or wire harness.
      • Do not carry the brake actuator assembly by the connector.

  10. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and the brake actuator from the brake actuator bracket assembly.
