Check CAN Bus Line for Short to +B (TO 12/2010): Procedure

  1. CHECK SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS WIRE (DLC3 SUB BUS LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the connector from the CAN junction connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 (CANH) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more
      14 (CANL) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH WIRE CONNECTED TO DLC3 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS WIRE (NETWORK GATEWAY ECU SUB BUS LINE) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      6 (CANH) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more
      17 (CANL) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more

    NG → See step   8 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS WIRE (ECM MAIN BUS LINE) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      10 (CANH) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more
      21 (CANL) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS WIRE (YAW RATE SENSOR SUB BUS LINE) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (CANH) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more
      13 (CANL) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more

    NG → See step   10 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS WIRE (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR SUB BUS LINE) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 (CANH) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more
      15 (CANL) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS WIRE (SKID CONTROL ECU MAIN BUS LINE) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      9 (CANH) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more
      20 (CANL) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more

    NG → See step   12 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS WIRE (NAVIGATION ECU SUB BUS LINE) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      7 (CANH) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more
      18 (CANL) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more

    NG → See step   13 

    OK → REPLACE CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR 

  8. CHECK SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS WIRE (NETWORK GATEWAY ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the gateway ECU connector (E23).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      6 (CANH) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more
      17 (CANL) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE NETWORK GATEWAY ECU SUB BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE NETWORK GATEWAY ECU 

  9. CHECK SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS WIRE (ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the ECM connector (A55).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      10 (CANH) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more
      21 (CANL) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE ECM MAIN BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   14 

  10. CHECK SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS WIRE (YAW RATE SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the yaw rate sensor connector (D28).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (CANH) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more
      13 (CANL) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE YAW RATE SENSOR SUB BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   15 

  11. CHECK SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS WIRE (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector (D12).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 (CANH) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more
      15 (CANL) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR SUB BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   16 

  12. CHECK SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS WIRE (SKID CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector (A34).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      9 (CANH) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more
      20 (CANL) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU MAIN BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   17 

  13. CHECK SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS WIRE (NAVIGATION ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the navigation ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      7 (CANH) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more
      18 (CANL) - D20-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE NAVIGATION ECU SUB BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   18 

  14. REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  15. REPLACE YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  16. REPLACE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  17. REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  18. REPLACE NAVIGATION ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL
