Check CAN Bus Lines for Short Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN BUS WIRE (DLC3 SUB BUS LINE) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the connector from CAN junction connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *1 DLC3

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified value
      D20-6 (CANH) - D20-14 (CANL) Ignition switch off 1 MΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE DLC3 SUB BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK CAN BUS WIRE (NETWORK GATEWAY ECU SUB BUS LINE) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to CAN Junction Connector)

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified value
      D73-6 (CANH) - D73-17 (CANL) Ignition switch off 200 Ω or more

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK CAN BUS WIRE (ECM MAIN BUS LINE) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified value
      D73-10 (CANH) - D73-21 (CANL) Ignition switch off 108 to 132 Ω

    NG → See step   10 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK CAN BUS WIRE (YAW RATE SENSOR SUB BUS LINE) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      D73-2 (CANH) - D73-13 (CANL) Ignition switch off 200 Ω or more

  5. CHECK CAN BUS WIRE (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR SUB BUS LINE) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      D73-4 (CANH) - D73-15 (CANL) Ignition switch off 200 Ω or more

  6. CHECK CAN BUS WIRE (SKID CONTROL ECU MAIN BUS LINE) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  7. CHECK CAN BUS WIRE (NAVIGATION ECU SUB BUS LINE) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  8. CHECK CAN BUS WIRE (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY SUB BUS LINE) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    OK → REPLACE JUNCTION CONNECTOR (CAN J/C) 

  9. CHECK CAN BUS WIRE (NETWORK GATEWAY ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the network gateway ECU connector (E23).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified value
      D73-6 (CANH) - D73-17 (CANL) Ignition switch off 1 MΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE NETWORK GATEWAY ECU SUB BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE NETWORK GATEWAY ECU 

  10. CHECK CAN BUS WIRE (ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the ECM connector (A55).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      D73-10 (CANH) - D73-21 (CANL) Ignition switch off 1 MΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE ECM MAIN BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   16 

  11. CHECK CAN BUS WIRE (YAW RATE SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the yaw rate sensor connector (D28).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    OK → See step   17 

  12. CHECK CAN BUS WIRE (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector (D12).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  13. CHECK CAN BUS WIRE (SKID CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector (A34).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  14. CHECK CAN BUS WIRE (NAVIGATION ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the navigation ECU connector (E54).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  15. CHECK CAN BUS WIRE (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the center airbag sensor assembly connector (D23).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY SUB BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 

  16. REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  17. REPLACE YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  18. REPLACE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  19. REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  20. REPLACE NAVIGATION ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL
