Rear Door UNLOCK Detection Switch LH Circuit: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (DOOR UNLOCK DETECTION SWITCH) 
    1. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the tester on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the tester.
      MAIN BODY:

      Tester Display Measurement Item /Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Rear Lock Position SW Door unlock detection switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Door is unlocked
      OFF: Door is locked
      -

      OK

      On the tester screen, each item changes between ON and OFF according to the chart above.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (TO 12/2010)   PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

  2. INSPECT REAR DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY LH (DOOR UNLOCK DETECTION SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the rear door lock assembly LH.

    2. Measure the resistance of the door unlock detection switch.

      Resistance

      Tester Connection Door Lock Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 1
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 4
      ON (Door lock set to UNLOCK) 6 - 9 (Below 1 Ω)
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 4
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 1
      OFF (Door lock set to LOCK) 6 - 9 (10 kΩ or higher)

    NG → REPLACE REAR DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY LH 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (REAR DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY LH - INSTRUMENT PANEL J/B) 
    1. Disconnect the J5 connector.

    2. Remove the body ECU from instrument panel J/B.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      20 (LSWL) - J5-6 Always Below 1 Ω
      J5-9 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → PROCEED TO  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE   NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
