Inspection Procedure

NOTE: If the steering column or power steering ECU is replaced, perform rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION  ).
  1. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION 
    1. Check the installation condition of the motor rotation angle sensor connector.

      OK: 

      The motor rotation angle sensor connector is securely connected to the power steering ECU  .

      NG: CONNECT CONNECTOR 

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (MOTOR ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / EMPS / Data List.
    6. Select the item "Motor Rotation Angle" in the Data List and read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      EMPS 

      DATA LIST REFERENCE

      Motor Rotation Angle Motor rotation angle/
      Min.: 0 deg
      Max.: 360 deg
      During steering operation, motor rotation angle value changes from 0 to 360° Power steering is operating

      OK: 

      During steering operation, motor rotation angle value changes from 0 to 360°  .

      NG: REPLACE STEERING COLUMN  (See REMOVAL )

      OK: REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU  (See POWER STEERING ECU  )
