Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the connectors shown in the illustration from the stereo component amplifier or radio receiver and speakers.

    2. for 7 Speakers:

      Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 3 speakers and the stereo component amplifier to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E35-8 (FL+) - F3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E35-7 (FL-) - F3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E35-2 (FR+) - F2-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E35-6 (FR-) - F2-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    3. for 6 Speakers:

      Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speakers and the radio receiver to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E1-2 (FL+) - I4-4 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E1-6 (FL-) - I4-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
      E1-1 (FR+) - H4-4 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E1-5 (FR-) - H4-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
    4. for 7 Speakers:

      Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speakers and the stereo component amplifier to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E36-2 (WFL+) - I1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E36-1 (WFL-) - I1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E36-9 (WFR+) - H1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E36-3 (WFR-) - H1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    5. for 4 Speakers:

      Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speakers and the radio receiver to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E1-2 (FL+) - I1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E1-6 (FL-) - I1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E1-1 (FR+) - H1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E1-5 (FR-) - H1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    6. for 7 Speakers:

      Measure the resistance between each of the rear speakers and the stereo component amplifier to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E35-3 (RL+) - K2-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E35-9 (RL-) - K2-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E35-10 (RR+) - J2-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E35-4 (RR-) - J2-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    7. Except for 7 Speakers:

      Measure the resistance between each of the rear speakers and the radio receiver to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E2-2 (RL+) - K2-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E2-6 (RL-) - K2-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E2-1 (RR+) - J2-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E2-3 (RR-) - J2-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    8. for 6 Speakers:

      Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speaker and front No. 2 speaker to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I4-3 (TWL+) - I1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      14-1 (TWL-) - I1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      H4-3 (TWR+) - H1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      H4-1 (TWR-) - H1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    9. for 7 Speakers:

      Measure the resistance between each of the No. 1 woofer box speaker and the stereo component amplifier to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E36-5 (WF2+) - M1-1 (WF+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E36-12 (WF2-) - M1-2 (WF-) Always Below 1 Ω
      E36-10 (WF1-) - M1-3 (WF-) Always Below 1 Ω
      E36-4 (WF1+) - M1-4 (WF+) Always Below 1 Ω
    10. for 7 Speakers:

      Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E35-8 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E35-7 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E35-2 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E35-6 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E35-3 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E35-9 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E35-10 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E35-4 (RR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E36-2 (WFL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Measure the resistance between each speaker or radio receiver and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      E1-2 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E1-6 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      E2-2 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E2-6 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E2-1 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E2-3 (RR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I4-3 (TWL+) - Body ground(1) Always 10 kΩ or higher

      (1) for 6 Speakers

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  2. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER 
    1. Resistance check
      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance: 

        for 7 Speakers 

        RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        I1-1 - I1-2 Always 1.5 to 2.2 Ω
        H1-1 - H1-2 Always 1.5 to 2.2 Ω

        Except for 7 Speakers 

        RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        I1-1 - I1-2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω
        H1-1 - H1-2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω

        NG: REPLACE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER  (See REMOVAL  )

        OK: Go to Next Step 

  3. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER 
    1. Resistance check
      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance: 

        for 7 Speakers 

        RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        K2-1 - K2-2 Always 2.1 to 3.1 Ω
        J2-1 - J2-2 Always 2.1 to 3.1 Ω

        Except for 7 Speakers 

        RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        K2-1 - K2-2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω
        J2-1 - J2-2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω

        NG: REPLACE REAR SPEAKER  (See REMOVAL  )

        OK: Go to Next Step 

  4. CONFIRM MODEL

  6. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed.

      OK: 

      Malfunction disappears  .

      HINT:

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speaker.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.

        NG: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  )

        OK: REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER  (See REMOVAL  )

  7. INSPECT NO. 1 WOOFER BOX SPEAKER 
    1. Resistance check
      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance 

        RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        M1-1 (WF+) - M1-2 (WF-) Always 0.85 to 1.50 Ω
        M1-4 (WF+) - M1-3 (WF-) Always 0.85 to 1.50 Ω

        NOTE: The speaker should not be removed when checking resistance.

        NG: REPLACE NO. 1 WOOFER BOX SPEAKER  (See REMOVAL  )

        OK: Go to Next Step 

  8. INSPECT FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER 
    1. Resistance check
      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance 

        RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        F2-1 - F2-2 Always 1.5 to 2.5 Ω
        F3-1 - F3-2 Always 1.5 to 2.5 Ω

        NG: REPLACE FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER  (See REMOVAL  )

        OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  )
