Quarter Window Glass: Removal

  1. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  (See REMOVAL )
  2. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH  (See REMOVAL )
  3. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )

    1. Apply protective tape to the outer surface of the vehicle body to prevent scratches.

    2. Using a knife, cut off the quarter window moulding as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE: Make a partial cut in the moulding. Then pull and remove it by hand.

    3. Pass a piano wire between the from interior vehicle body and glass from the interior as shown in the illustration.
    4. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects that can serve as handle.
      NOTE: When separating the quarter window assembly from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the vehicle's paint or interior/exterior ornaments.
    5. Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the quarter window assembly.
      NOTE: Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when cutting through the adhesive.

    6. Disengage the 3 clips.
    7. Using a suction cup, remove the glass.
    NOTE: Be careful not to drop the glass.

  28. CLEAN VEHICLE BODY 
    1. Clean and shape the contact surfaces of the vehicle body.
      1. Using a knife, cut away excess adhesive on the contact surfaces of the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

      HINT:

      Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.

    2. Clean the contact surfaces of the vehicle body with a piece of cloth saturated with cleaner.

      HINT:

      Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
