Speaker Circuit (TO 12/2010): Procedure

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the stereo component amplifier assembly and speakers.
    2. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speakers and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E36-10 (FR+) - D43-3 (TWR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E36-9 (FR-) - D43-2 (TWR-) Always Below 1 Ω
      E36-3 (FL+) - D1-3 (TWL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E36-8 (FL-) - D1-2 (TWL-) Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speakers and the front No. 1 speakers to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D43-4 (+) - G3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      D43-1 (-) - G3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      D1-4 (+) - H3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      D1-1 (-) - H3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 2 speakers and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E36-2 (RR+) - I6-3 (+TW) Always Below 1 Ω
      E36-7 (RR-) - I6-2 (-TW) Always Below 1 Ω
      E36-4 (RL+) - J6-3 (+TW) Always Below 1 Ω
      E36-11 (RL-) - J6-2 (-TW) Always Below 1 Ω
    5. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speakers and the rear No. 2 speakers to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I6-4 (+) - I3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      I6-1 (-) - I3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      J6-4 (+) - J3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      J6-1 (-) - J3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    6. Measure the resistance between each of the roof speakers and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E37-2 (SR+) - L13-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E37-6 (SR-) - L13-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E37-8 (SL+) - L15-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E37-7 (SL-) - L15-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    7. Measure the resistance between the rear stereo component speaker and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E37-3 (WF1+) - L24-4 (WF+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E37-9 (WF1-) - L24-3 (WF-) Always Below 1 Ω
      E38-5 (WFR+) - L24-2 (WF+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E38-4 (WFR-) - L24-1 (WF-) Always Below 1 Ω
    8. Measure the resistance between the front No. 3 speaker and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      E36-5 (CTR+) - F3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E36-12 (CTR-) - F3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    9. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      E36-10 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E36-9 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      H3-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    11. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speakers and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I3-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I3-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J3-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J3-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        G3-1 - G3-2 Always 1.8 to 2.6 Ω
        H3-1 - H3-2 Always 1.8 to 2.6 Ω

  4. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        D43-4 (+) - D43-3 (TWR+) Always Below 1 Ω
        D43-1 (-) - D43-2 (TWR-) Always Below 1 Ω
        D43-3 (TWR+) - D43-2 (TWR-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
        D1-4 (+) - D1-3 (TWL+) Always Below 1 Ω
        D1-1 (-) - D1-2 (TWL-) Always Below 1 Ω
        D1-3 (TWL+) - D1-2 (TWL-) Always 10 kΩ or higher

  5. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed. Refer to REMOVAL .

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speakers that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK → END (FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  6. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        I3-1 - I3-2 Always 1.8 to 2.6 Ω

  7. INSPECT REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  8. REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed. Refer to REMOVAL .

      • Connect all the connectors to the rear No. 2 speakers that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.

  9. INSPECT ROOF SPEAKER

  10. INSPECT REAR STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER

  11. INSPECT FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the radio receiver assembly and speakers.
    2. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speakers and the radio receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E32-1 (FR+) - D43-3 (TWR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E32-5 (FR-) - D43-2 (TWR-) Always Below 1 Ω
      E32-2 (FL+) - D1-3 (TWL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E32-6 (FL-) - D1-2 (TWL-) Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speakers and the front No. 1 speakers to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      D43-4 (+) - G3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      D43-1 (-) - G3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      D1-4 (+) - H3-1 Always Below 1 Ω

    4. Measure the resistance between the front No. 3 speaker and the radio receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      E32-1 (FR+) - F3-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E32-5 (FR-) - F3-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
      E32-2 (FL+) - F3-3 (+) Always Below 1 Ω

    5. Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 2 speakers and the radio receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      E33-1 (RR+) - I6-3 (+TW) Always Below 1 Ω
      E33-3 (RR-) - I6-2 (-TW) Always Below 1 Ω
      E33-2 (RL+) - J6-3 (+TW) Always Below 1 Ω

    6. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speakers and the rear No. 2 speakers to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      I6-4 (+) - I3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      I6-1 (-) - I3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      J6-4 (+) - J3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      J6-1 (-) - J3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    7. Measure the resistance between the radio receiver assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E32-1 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E32-5 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E32-2 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E32-6 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E33-1 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E33-3 (RR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E33-2 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E33-6 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    8. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speakers and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      G3-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G3-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H3-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H3-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    9. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speakers and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I3-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I3-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J3-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  13. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

  14. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER

  15. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed. Refer to REMOVAL .

  18. REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER
