Shift Lever Assembly: Removal

REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (See REMOVAL )
DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
1. Disconnect the control select cable from the shift lever assembly.
2. Disconnect the control shift cable from the shift lever assembly.

3. Using a screwdriver, pull out the stopper of the transmission control cable.
  NOTE: Do not remove the stopper. If it is removed, reinstall it to its original position.

4. Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable from the shift lever retainer.
  NOTE: Do not rotate the nut excessively as it will come off the internal spring and the transmission control cable will not be reusable.

REMOVE SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY
1. Remove the 4 nuts and the shift lever assembly.
