Transmission Control Cable: Removal

  1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE  (See REMOVALINSTALLATION )
  4. REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY  (See EXHAUST PIPE )
  5. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the 3 nuts and the front No. 1 floor heat insulator.
  6. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )

  9. REMOVE FRONT UPPER CONSOLE BOX  (See REMOVAL )
  10. REMOVE NO. 2 SWITCH HOLE BASE  (See REMOVAL )
  11. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET 
  12. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  13. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT  (See REMOVAL )
  14. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT  (See REMOVAL )
  15. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL  (See REMOVAL )
  16. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the control shift cable from the shift lever assembly.
    2. Disconnect the control select cable from the shift lever assembly.

    3. Using a screwdriver, pull out the stopper of the transmission control cable.
      NOTE: Do not remove the stopper. If it is removed, reinstall it to its original position.

    4. Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable from the shift lever retainer.
      NOTE: Do not rotate the nut excessively as it will come off the internal spring and the transmission control cable will not be reusable.

    5. Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 transmission control cables from the control cable bracket*1.
    6. Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 transmission control cables from the transaxle*2.

    7. Remove the nut and transmission control cable assembly.

    8. Remove the 2 nuts and transmission control cable assembly.
