Transmission Control Cable: Removal

- REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )

- REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR
- Remove the 3 nuts and the front No. 1 floor heat insulator.
- REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT UPPER CONSOLE BOX (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE NO. 2 SWITCH HOLE BASE (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET
- REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the control shift cable from the shift lever assembly.
- Disconnect the control select cable from the shift lever assembly.
- Using a screwdriver, pull out the stopper of the transmission control cable.NOTE: Do not remove the stopper. If it is removed, reinstall it to its original position.
- Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable from the shift lever retainer.NOTE: Do not rotate the nut excessively as it will come off the internal spring and the transmission control cable will not be reusable.
- Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 transmission control cables from the control cable bracket*1.
- Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 transmission control cables from the transaxle*2.
- Remove the nut and transmission control cable assembly.
- Remove the 2 nuts and transmission control cable assembly.
