Ignition Switch: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
CAUTION: Some of the following service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing the steering column assembly (See AIRBAG SYSTEM ).
  1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
  3. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE STEERING PAD  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connector from the ignition switch.

    2. Remove the 2 screws and ignition switch.
