Inspection Procedure

NOTE: If the steering column or power steering ECU is replaced, perform rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION  ).
  1. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point (See CALIBRATION  ).
  2. RECONFIRM DTC
    1. Check for DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

      Result

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Condition Proceed to
DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times*1. A
DTCs are still output even after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 1 or 2 times*2. B
Normal system code is output. C
      HINT:
      • *1: The power steering ECU must be replaced if DTC C1515 or C1525 is still output even after rotation angle sensor value initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration are performed 3 times.
      • *2: Perform rotation angle sensor value initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration again if DTC C1515 or C1525 is still output even after the calibration is performed 1 or 2 times.

B: PERFORM ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR INITIALIZATION AND TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION  (See CALIBRATION  )

      C: END

      A: Go to Next Step

  3. REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU
    1. Replace the power steering ECU (See POWER STEERING ECU  ).
  4. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point (See CALIBRATION  ).
  5. RECONFIRM DTC
    1. Check for DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

      Result

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Condition Proceed to
DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times*1. A
DTCs are still output even after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 2 times*2. B
Normal system code is output. C
      HINT:
      • *1: The steering column assembly must be replaced if DTC C1515 or C1525 is still output even after rotation angle sensor value initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration are performed 3 times.
      • *2: Perform rotation angle sensor value initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration again if DTC C1515 or C1525 is still output even after the calibration is performed 2 times.
NOTE: If the steering column is replaced, clear the rotation angle sensor calibration value, initialize the rotation angle sensor value, and calibrate the torque sensor zero point (See CALIBRATION  ).

B: PERFORM ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR INITIALIZATION AND TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION  (See CALIBRATION  )

      C: END

A: REPLACE STEERING COLUMN  (See REMOVAL )
