Inspection Procedure

NOTE: The vehicle is equipped with an SRS such as the airbags. Before servicing (including removal or installation of parts), be sure to read the precautionary notice for the airbag system (See SYSTEM DESCRIPTION ).
  1. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the a1 steering pad switch connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard resistance 

    STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    AU1 - EAU No switch Is pushed Approx. 100 kΩ
    AU1 - EAU SEEK+ switch: push 0 to 2.5 Ω
    AU1 - EAU SEEK- switch: push Approx. 0.3 kΩ
    AU1 - EAU VOL+ switch: push Approx. 1 kΩ
    AU1 - EAU VOL-switch: push Approx. 3.1 kΩ
    AU2 - EAU No switch Is pushed Approx. 100 kΩ
    AU2 - EAU MODE switch: push 0 to 2.5 Ω
    AU2 - EAU (*1) VOICE switch: push Approx. 3.1 kΩ
    AU2 - EAU (*1) ON HOOK switch: push Approx. 0.3 kΩ
    AU2 - EAU (*1) OFF HOOK switch: push Approx. 1 kΩ
    HINT:
    *1: for Premium sound models

    NG: REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    OK: GO to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE - RADIO RECEIVER) 
    1. Disconnect the E49 receiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the E7 cable connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

    Standard resistance 

    STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

    Tester Connection Specified Condition
    E49-7 (SW1) - E7-6 (AU1) Below 1 Ω
    E49-8 (SW2) - E7-5 (AU2) Below 1 Ω
    E49-6 (SWG) - E7-4 (EAU) Below 1 Ω
    E49-7 (SW1) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    E49-8 (SW2) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    E49-6 (SWG) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: GO to next step 

  3. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the cable connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the cable.

    Standard resistance 

    STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

    Tester Connection Specified Condition
    E7-4 (EAU) - 8 (EAU) Below 1 Ω
    E7-6 (AU1) - 10 (AU1) Below 1 Omega;
    E7-5 (AU2) - 9 (AU2) Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
