How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

HINT:

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 
  2. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE 

    Standard voltage: 

    11 to 14 V 

    If the voltage is below 11V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding.

  3. INSPECT COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM* 
    1. Using the Techstream, check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING ).

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed to
      CAN DTC is not output A
      CAN DTC is output B

      B: GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )

      A: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK FOR DTC* 
    1. Check for DTCs and write down any stored DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
    2. Clear the DTCs.
    3. Check whether output of the same DTC(s), relevant to the SFI or smart key systems, recurs by reproducing the symptoms indicated by the DTC(s) written down in the first step above.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC output does not recur A
      SFI system DTC output recurs B
      Smart key system DTC output recurs C

      B: GO TO SFI SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

      C: GO TO STEP  7

      A: Go to next step 

  5. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

    1. Terminals of ECU (See TERMINALS OF ECU  )
    2. Data List / Active Test (See DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST  )
  7. ADJUST, REPAIR OR REPLACE 
  8. CONFIRMATION TEST
