Inspection Procedure

1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
3. Turn the tester on.
4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
5. Read the DTCs.
   Result:
   
   

   RESULT	PROCEED TO
   DTC P0606 is output	A
   DTC P0606 and P0136, P0137, P0138, P0156, P0157 or P0158 are output	B

   A: CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK 

1. Inspect the P0136, P0137, P0138, P0156, P0157 or P0158 flow chart.

   HINT:

   • If P0136 or P0156 is output, troubleshoot for that DTC first. Then proceed to step 6.
   • If P0137or P0157 is output, troubleshoot for that DTC first. Then proceed to step 6.
   • If P0138 or P0158 is output, troubleshoot for that DTC first. Then proceed to step 6.
   • If DTC P0606 and P0136, P0137, P0138, P0156, P0157 or P0158 are output, the output voltage of the heated oxygen sensor may remain close to 0 V or become high (around 1 V or more).

1. Allow the engine to idle and rev the engine.
2. Check for exhaust gas leaks around the heated oxygen sensor.
3. Connect the battery negative terminal.
4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Code.
5. Read the DTCs.
