Inspection Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Toyota Corolla. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
The vehicle is equipped with an SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) which includes components such as airbags. Before servicing (including removal or installation of parts), be sure to read the precautionary notice for the Supplemental Restraint System (See
AIRBAG SYSTEM
).
- INSPECT RADIO RECEIVER
- Disconnect the radio receiver connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

- INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE
- Disconnect the steering pad switch and spiral cable connectors.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition Y1-8 (EAU) - E6-4 (EAU) Center Below 1 Ω 2.5 rotations to the left 2.5 rotations to the right Y1-10 (AU1) - E6-6 (AU1) Center Below 1 Ω 2.5 rotations to the left 2.5 rotations to the right Y1-9 (AU2) - E6-5 (AU2) Center Below 1 Ω 2.5 rotations to the left 2.5 rotations to the right NOTE: The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent the airbag from deploying. Be sure to read the page shown in the brackets.HINT:
- Removal (See REMOVAL )
- Installation (See INSTALLATION )
