Steering Column Assembly: Removal

PRECAUTION

DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the battery terminal to prevent the airbag working.
PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.2 (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.3 (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
1. Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.
2. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and main shaft assembly.
3. Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.
  SST 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021)

REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER
1. Remove the 2 screws and steering column cover.

REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH
REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER LH (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD INSERT SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.1 (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE HEATER TO FOOT DUCT NO.3
1. Disengage the 3 claws and remove the sir duct No. 3.
SEPARATE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY
1. Loosen the bolt.

2. Release the 3 clips and separate the dust cover.

3. Align the matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering gear assembly.
4. Remove the bolt and separate the steering intermediate shaft assembly.

REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY
1. Disconnect the connectors and wire harness clamps.
2. Remove the 3 bolts and steering column assembly from the instrument panel reinforcement assembly.
