Inspection Procedure

CHECK MIL
1. Check that the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) lights up when turning the ignition switch to ON.
  OK:
  
  MIL lights up
  
  OK: PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE )
  
  NG: Go to next step

CHECK CONNECTION BETWEEN TECHSTREAM AND ECM

Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream ON.

Check the communication between the Techstream and ECM.

A: GO TO MIL CIRCUIT

B: Go to next step

CHECK MIL (THROTTLE BODY)

Disconnect the throttle body connector.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Check the MIL.

Result

MIL Illuminates	A
MIL does not Illuminate	B

A: REPLACE THROTTLE BODY (See REMOVAL )

B: Go to next step

CHECK MIL (ACCELERATOR PEDAL)

Disconnect the accelerator pedal connector.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Check the MIL.

Result

MIL Illuminates	A
MIL does not illuminate	B

A: REPLACE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )

B: Go to next step

CHECK MIL (PRESSURE SENSOR FOR SECONDARY AIR INJECTION)

Disconnect the pressure sensor connector.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Check the MIL.

Result

A: REPLACE PRESSURE SENSOR

B: Go to next step

CHECK MIL (CANISTER PUMP MODULE)

Disconnect the canister pump module connector.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Check the MIL.

A: REPLACE CHARCOAL CANISTER ASSEMBLY (See CANISTER )

B: Go to next step

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - BODY GROUND)

Disconnect the throttle body connector.
Disconnect the accelerator pedal connector.
Disconnect the pressure sensor connector.
Disconnect the canister pump module connector.
Disconnect the ECM connector.

Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

Standard Resistance (check for short)

TESTER CONNECTIONS SPECIFIED CONDITIONS CHART

Tester Connection	Specified Condition
VC (E4-18) - Body ground	10 kΩ or higher
VCPA (E8-26) - Body ground	10 kΩ or higher
VCP2 (E8-27) - Body ground	10 kΩ or higher

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK: REPLACE ECM (See REMOVAL )
