Back Door Entry Unlock Function does not Operate: Procedure

  1. CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK OPERATION 
    1. When the door control switch on the multiplex network master switch assembly is operated, check that the doors unlock and lock according to the switch operation. Refer to OPERATION CHECK .

      OK

      Door locks operate normally.

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      OK (back door opener switch operation fails) A
      OK (back door control switch operation fails) B
      NG C

    A: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (UNLOCK SWITCH) 
    1. Using the Techstream, read the Data List. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST .

      Tr/B Door Unlock SW Back door unlock switch / ON or OFF ON: Back door unlock switch pushed
      OFF: Back door unlock switch not pushed

      OK

      "ON" (unlock switch is pushed) and "OFF" (unlock switch is not pushed) appear on the screen.

    NG → See step   3 

    OK → See step   9 

  3. INSPECT BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (UNLOCK SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the back door opener switch. Refer to DISASSEMBLY .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 (UL) - 2 (E) No switch pushed 10 kΩ or higher
      1 (UL) - 2 (E) Unlock switch pushed Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   10 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH - CERTIFICATION ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the back door opener switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the F79 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (UL) - F79-22 (TSW5) Always Below 1 Ω
      2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      1 (UL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   9 

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (UNLOCK SWITCH) 
    1. Using the Techstream, read the Data List. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST .
      BACK DOOR P/W

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Outside Back Door P/W Down SW Unlock switch on back door control switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Unlock switch on back door control switch pushed
      OFF: Unlock switch on back door control switch not pushed

      OK

      "ON" (unlock switch is pushed) and "OFF" (unlock switch is not pushed) appear on the screen.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK → See step   11 

  6. INSPECT BACK DOOR CONTROL SWITCH (UNLOCK SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the back door control switch. Refer to DISASSEMBLY .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      3 (SDN) - 2 (E3) No switch pushed 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (SDN) - 2 (E3) Unlock switch pushed Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   12 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR CONTROL SWITCH - MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the W11 switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the W10 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      W11-3 (SDN) - W10-9 (SDN) Always Below 1 Ω
      W11-2 (E3) - W10-21 (E3) Always Below 1 Ω
      W11-3 (SDN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      W11-2 (E3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   11 

  8. GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  9. REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  10. REPLACE BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (UNLOCK SWITCH). Refer to  DISASSEMBLY 
  11. REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU (BACK DOOR P/W). Refer to  DISASSEMBLY 
  12. REPLACE BACK DOOR CONTROL SWITCH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY
