Engine Control System (2AR-FE) (Service Information): ECM: Removal: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

  2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector.

    2. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.
    3. Disconnect the 4 wire harness clamps.
    4. Disconnect the 2 purge line hoses.
    5. Disconnect the No. 2 ventilation hose from the air cleaner hose.

    6. Disconnect the purge line hose from the clamp.
    7. Lock the No. 1 air cleaner hose clamp, and then disconnect the No. 1 air cleaner hose from the throttle body.

    8. Detach the 2 hook clamps, and then remove the air cleaner cap.

    9. Remove the air cleaner filter element from the air cleaner case.
  3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE 
    1. Disconnect the harness clamp.

    2. Remove the 3 bolts and air cleaner case.
  4. REMOVE ECM 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts of the ECM with bracket.

    2. Disconnect the 2 ECM connectors.

      NOTE:

      After disconnecting the connector, make sure that dirt, water and other foreign matter does not contact the connector.

      1. Raise the 2 levers while pushing the locks on the 2 levers, and disconnect the 2 ECM connectors.
    3. Remove the ECM with bracket.
    4. Remove the 4 screws and 2 ECM brackets.
