Mute Signal Circuit between Navigation Receiver Assembly and Stereo Component Amplifier (FROM 12/2010): Procedure

  1. INSPECT STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E20-1 (MUTE) - Body ground Ignition switch ACC, Audio system playing → Changing source Above 3.5 V → Below 1 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Stereo Component Amplifier Assembly)

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   5 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER - STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER) 
    1. Disconnect the E52 navigation receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the E20 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E52-7 (MUTE) - E20-1 (MUTE) Always Below 1 Ω
      E52-7 (MUTE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY (OUTPUT SIGNAL) 
    1. Reconnect the E20 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E20-1 (MUTE) - Body ground Ignition switch ACC
      Audio system playing
      Above 3.5 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Stereo Component Amplifier Assembly)

    NG → See step   6 

    OK → See step   4 

  4. REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  5. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  6. REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
