Sound Signal Circuit between Navigation Receiver Assembly and Multi-media Interface ECU: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - MULTI-MEDIA INTERFACE ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the navigation receiver assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the multi-media interface ECU connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F37-2 (CDR+) - F28-2 (URO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F37-3 (CDR-) - F28-3 (URO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      F37-4 (CDL+) - F28-4 (ULO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F37-5 (CDL-) - F28-5 (ULO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      F37-2 (CDR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F37-3 (CDR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F37-4 (CDL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F37-5 (CDL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F28-1 (USD1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Navigation Receiver Assembly)
      *2 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Multi-media Interface ECU)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT MULTI-MEDIA INTERFACE ECU 
    1. Reconnect the multi-media interface ECU connector.

    2. Check the waveform according to the conditions in the table below.

      Standard

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F28-2 (URO+) - Body ground Sound being produced A waveform synchronized with sound is output
      F28-3 (URO-) - Body ground Sound being produced A waveform synchronized with sound is output
      F28-4 (ULO+) - Body ground Sound being produced A waveform synchronized with sound is output
      F28-5 (ULO-) - Body ground Sound being produced A waveform synchronized with sound is output

      *1 Component with harness connected
      (Multi-media Interface ECU)

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → See step   3 

  3. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  4. REPLACE MULTI-MEDIA INTERFACE ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL
