Steering Column Assembly: Installation: Installation

  1. INSTALL STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Align the matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and the steering column assembly.
    2. Install the bolt.

      Torque: 35 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) 

  2. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the steering column assembly with the bolt and 2 nuts.

      Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the connectors and wire harness clamps to the steering column assembly.
    3. Align the matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and the power steering link assembly.

    4. Install the bolt.

      Torque: 35 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) 

    5. Install the clamp to the steering column hole shield.

  3. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR DUCT 
    1. Engage the 2 claws to install the No. 1 air duct.

  4. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  5. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly to the steering column assembly with the clamp.

    2. Connect the connectors to the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.
  6. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Engage the claw to install the upper steering column cover.

    2. Engage the 2 claws to install the lower steering column cover.

    3. Install the 2 screws.
  7. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE SUB- ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 4
  8. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.

    2. Install the steering wheel assembly set nut.

      Torque: 50 N*m (510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf) 

    3. Connect the connectors to the spiral cable sub-assembly.
  9. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT 
  10. INSTALL STEERING PAD  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  11. INSTALL NO. 2 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 3
  12. INSTALL NO. 3 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 2
  13. INSTALL DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  14. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LH (for TMC Made)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 50
  15. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LH (for TMMK Made)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 51
  16. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 39
  17. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 40
  18. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL LH 

    Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf) 

  19. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  20. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:
    • Make sure that the cable has been disconnected from the battery terminal for at least 2 seconds before reconnecting the cable.
    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal with the front wheels facing straight ahead.
  21. INSPECT STEERING PAD  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 5
  22. REGISTER ECU CODE 
    NOTE:

    When replacing the steering lock actuator assembly, perform initialization. Refer to REGISTRATION - Step 3

  23. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (for TMC Made) 

    HINT: 

    Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM

  24. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (except TMC Made) 

    HINT: 

    Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
