DTC B1271: Combination Meter ECU Communication Stop: Procedure

  1. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (COMBINATION METER ECU - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the E30 meter connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E30-1 (B2) - Body ground Always 10 to 14 V
      E30-21 (B) - Body ground 10 to 14 V
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E30-39 (ES) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      E30-40 (E2) - Body ground Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK RESISTANCE OF COMMUNICATION LINE 
    1. Disconnect the E30, E23 and 1G ECU connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Resistance

      Tester Condition Condition Specified Condition
      E30-13 (MPX-) - E23-12 (MPD2) Always Below 1 Ω
      E30-33 (MPX+) - 1G-7 Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Both are OK A
      One is OK B
      Both are NG C

    B → REPLACE COMBINATION METER ECU AND REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    C → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    A → REPLACE COMBINATION METER ECU
