- ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL WARNING:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTE:When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 18
- REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 20
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL LH . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 22
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSEMBLY LOWER NO. 1 . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 7
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO. 2 . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 4
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO. 3 . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
- REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 5
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
- Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.
- Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and main shaft assembly.
- Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER LWR
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Disengage the 2 claws to remove the steering column cover LWR.
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER
- Disengage the claw and remove the steering column cover.
- REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the connectors from the turn signal switch assembly w/ spiral cable sub-assembly.
- Remove the clamp and the turn signal switch assembly w/ spiral cable sub-assembly from the steering column assembly.
- REMOVE AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY NO. 1
- Disengage the 2 claws and remove the air duct sub-assembly No. 1.
- SEPARATE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY
- Put matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering column assembly.
- Remove the bolt and separate the steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering column assembly.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PLATE
- REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY

- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the connectors and wire harness clamps from the steering column assembly.
- Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and steering column assembly.
- REMOVE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY
- Remove the bolt, and then slide the steering intermediate shaft assembly No. 2.
NOTE:
Do not separate the steering intermediate shaft assembly.
- Put matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and power steering gear assembly.
- Separate the intermediate shaft assembly from the power steering gear assembly.
- Remove the clamp from the steering column hole shield.
- Remove the steering intermediate shaft assembly.
- Remove the bolt, and then slide the steering intermediate shaft assembly No. 2.
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER
- Remove the nut, 2 bolts and steering column hole cover sub-assembly.
- Remove the steering column hole cover.
