Microphone Circuit between Microphone and Navigation Receiver Assembly: Procedure

  1. INSPECT NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E54-17 (MACC) - Body ground Ignition switch ACC 4 to 6 V
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E54-18 (SGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      E54-20 (MIC-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Navigation Receiver Assembly)

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the E54 navigation receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the N9 inner rear view mirror assembly (amplifier microphone assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E54-5 (SNS2) - N9-10 (SGND) Always Below 1 Ω
      E54-17 (MACC) - N9-2 (MACC) Always Below 1 Ω
      E54-19 (MIC+) - N9-11 (MIC+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E54-20 (MIC-) - N9-12 (MIC-) Always Below 1 Ω
      E54-5 (SNS2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E54-17 (MACC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E54-19 (MIC+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E54-20 (MIC-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E54-18 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (AMPLIFIER MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N9-10 (SGND) - N9-12 (MIC-) Always Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Inner Rear View Mirror Assembly (Amplifier Microphone Assembly))

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. REPLACE INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (AMPLIFIER MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when another inner rear view mirror assembly (amplifier microphone assembly) in good condition installed.

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

    NG → See step   5 

    OK → END (INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  5. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  .
  6. REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL  .
  7. REPLACE INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (AMPLIFIER MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL  .
