Air Intake Control Circuit: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (ACTIVE THE VSV FOR AICS) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.

    2. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Activate the VSV for AICS.
    3. Check the operation of the VSV when the VSV is operated by Techstream.

      OK

      Tester Condition Specified Condition
      VSV is ON Air from port E flows out through port F
      VSV is OFF Air from port E flows out through the air filter

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   7 

  2. INSPECT VSV (FOR AICV) 
    1. Inspect the VSV for AICV. Refer to INSPECTION .

    NG → REPLACE VSV (FOR AICV) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (VSV FOR AICV CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the VSV for AICV connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) on the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A13-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    4. Reconnect the VSV for AICV connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (EFI NO. 2 FUSE - VSV FOR AICV) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AICV - ECM) 
    1. Check the wire harness between the VSV for AICV connector and the ECM connector.
      1. Disconnect the VSV for AICV connector.
      2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
      3. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the wire harness side connectors and body ground.

        Standard resistance (Check for open)

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        A13-2 - A55-4 (AICV) Always Below 1 Ω

        Standard resistance (Check for short)

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        A13-2 or A55-4 (AICV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      4. Reconnect the VSV for AICV connector.
      5. Reconnect the ECM connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AICV - ECM) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the air cleaner assembly. Refer to INSPECTION - Step 2 .

    NG → REPLACE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY 

    OK → See step   6 

  6. REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL  .
  7. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  .
