Front Passenger Airbag Assembly: Removal: Removal
- PRECAUTION WARNING:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing. Refer to PRECAUTION .
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL WARNING:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
- REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LH . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
- REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL RH . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 4
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 5
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 6
- REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 7
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
- REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 4
- REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 36
- REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 37
- REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 12
- DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 41
- REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 14
- REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX DOOR SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 15
- DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH
HINT:
Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side. Refer to REMOVAL - Step 41 .
- DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY
- Check that the ignition switch is off.
- Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.WARNING:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
- Disconnect the connector.
NOTE:
When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
- REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 18
- REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY . Refer to DISASSEMBLY - Step 1
- REMOVE NO. 3 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT . Refer to DISASSEMBLY - Step 4
- REMOVE NO. 4 INSTRUMENT PANEL CUSHION (for TMC Made) . Refer to DISASSEMBLY - Step 12
- REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Lean the instrument panel as shown the illustration and disengage the 5 hooks.
- Disengage the 5 hooks and remove the front passenger airbag assembly from the instrument panel as shown in the illustration.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY
- Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, disconnect the 2 airbag connectors and remove the clamp.
NOTE:
When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
- Remove the clamp and instrument panel wire assembly from the front passenger airbag assembly.
- Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, disconnect the 2 airbag connectors and remove the clamp.
