How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

HINT: 

Techstream can be used in steps 2, 3, 4, 6 and 9.

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  2. CONNECT TECHSTREAM TO DLC3 

    HINT: 

    If the display indicates a communication fault in the Techstream, inspect the DLC3.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK DTC AND FREEZE FRAME DATA 
    1. Check for DTC(s) and freeze frame data. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      HINT: 

      Record or print the DTCs and freeze frame data, if necessary.

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. CLEAR DTC AND FREEZE FRAME DATA 
    1. Clear the DTC(s) and freeze frame data. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  5. CONDUCT VISUAL INSPECTION 

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  6. SET CHECK MODE DIAGNOSIS 
    1. Set the check mode. Refer to CHECK MODE PROCEDURE .

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  7. CONFIRM PROBLEM SYMPTOMS 

    HINT: 

    If the engine does not start, perform steps 10 and 12 first.

  8. SIMULATE SYMPTOMS

  9. CHECK FOR DTCS 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      No code B

      B → GO TO STEP   11 

      A: Go to next step 

  10. REFER TO DTC CHART 

    HINT: 

    Refer to the DTC chart. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .

  11. CONDUCT BASIC INSPECTION 

    HINT: 

    Refer to "BASIC INSPECTION". Refer to BASIC INSPECTION .
