Park / Neutral Position Switch: Installation: Installation

  1. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the park/neutral position switch to the manual valve shaft.

    2. Temporarily install the 2 bolts.
    3. Install a new lock plate and tighten the nut.

      Torque: 6.9 N*m (70 kgf*cm, 61 in.*lbf)

    4. Temporarily install the control shaft lever.
    5. Turn the lever counterclockwise until it stops, then turn it clockwise 2 notches.

    6. Remove the control shaft lever.
    7. Align the groove with the neutral basic line.

    8. Hold the switch in this position and tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) 

    9. Using a screwdriver, stake the nut with the lock plate.

    10. Install the control shaft lever with the washer and nut.

      Torque: 13 N*m (130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

    11. Connect the park/neutral position switch connector.

  2. CONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the transmission control cable to the bracket with a new clip.

    2. Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the control shaft lever with the nut.

      Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

  3. INSTALL BATTERY CARRIER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 62
  4. INSTALL BATTERY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 63
  5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 77
  6. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION  See step  1
  7. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION  See step  2
  8. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY  See step  1
