Ignition Switch: Removal: Removal

WARNING:

Some of the following service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing the steering column assembly. Refer to PRECAUTION .

  1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

  3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL

  4. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 12
  5. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 13
  6. REMOVE IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connector from the ignition switch.

    2. Remove the 2 screws and ignition switch.
