Center Airbag Sensor Assembly: Installation: Installation

  1. INSTALL CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Using SST, install the center airbag sensor assembly with the 3 bolts.

      • SST: 09961-00950 

      without SST 

      Torque: 18 N*m (184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf) 

      with SST 

      Torque: 11 N*m (112 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 250 mm (9.84 in.).
      • This torque value is effective when SST is parallel to a torque wrench.
      • If the center airbag sensor assembly has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace it with a new one.
      • When installing the center airbag sensor assembly, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.
      • When the ignition switch is first turned to ON after the center airbag sensor assembly has been replaced, make sure that no one is in the vehicle.
    4. Connect the holder (with connectors).

      NOTE:

      When connecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    5. Check that the waterproof sheet is properly set.
    6. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the center airbag sensor assembly.
  2. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Instrument Panel Under Cover)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 10
  3. INSTALL LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (for Manual Transaxle)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 15
  4. INSTALL LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (for Automatic Transaxle)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 16
  5. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 17
  6. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 18
  7. INSTALL FRONT CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (for 2WD)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  8. INSTALL FRONT CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (for 4WD)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 2
  9. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX CARPET 
  10. INSTALL NO. 2 SWITCH HOLE BASE  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 22
  11. INSTALL FRONT UPPER CONSOLE BOX  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 23
  12. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 5
  13. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 6
  14. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 7
  15. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 8
  16. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 17
  17. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  18. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Inspect the SRS warning light. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
