Generator Signal Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (A/C AMPLIFIER - GENERATOR) 
    1. Disconnect the connector from the A/C amplifier.
    2. Disconnect the connector from the generator.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E63-24 (ALT) - B14-3 (M) Always Below 1 Ω
      E63-24 (ALT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT GENERATOR 
    1. Inspect the generator.
      1. for 2AZ-FE:

        Inspect the generator. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION for On-vehicle Inspection. Refer to INSPECTION for Inspection).

      2. for 2ZR-FE:

        Inspect the generator. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION for On-vehicle Inspection. Refer to INSPECTION for Inspection).

        Result

        NG (for 2AZ-FE) B
        NG (for 2ZR-FE) C

    C → See step   4 

    B → See step   3 

    A → See step   5 

  3. REPLACE GENERATOR (for 2AZ-FE). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  4. REPLACE GENERATOR (for 2ZR-FE). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  5. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
