Inspection Procedure: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN BUS LINE FOR DISCONNECTION (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

      (to Steering Angle Sensor)
    2. Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E49-3 (CANH) - E49-2 (CANL) Ignition switch off 54 to 69 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH WIRE CONNECTED TO STEERING ANGLE SENSOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IG, ESS) 
    1. Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector.

      (to Steering Angle Sensor)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E49-1 (ESS) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E49-4 (IG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 10 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   3 

  3. REPLACE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL
