Inspection Procedure: Procedure

CLEAR DTC
1. Clear the DTC. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
NEXT: Go to next step
CHECK FOR DTC
1. Recheck for the DTC. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

OK → See step 6

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU - MAIN BODY ECU)

Disconnect the E36 and 2C connectors.

Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
E36-10 (LIN) - 2C-12 (LIN1)	Always	Below 1 Ω
E36-10 (LIN) - Body ground	Always	10 kΩ or higher

Standard Voltage

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
E36-10 (LIN) - Body ground	Always	Below 1 V

NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK: Go to next step

REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK)
1. Replace the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block).
NEXT: Go to next step
CHECK FOR DTC
1. Clear the DTC. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
2. Recheck for the DTC.
