Transmission Control Cable: Removal: Removal

- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
- REMOVE BATTERY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 13
- REMOVE BATTERY TRAY
- REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 14
- REMOVE NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD COVER . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 10
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 12
- REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
- REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR
- Remove the 3 nuts and remove the No. 1 front floor heat insulator.
- REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 8
- REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 17
- REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 19
- REMOVE FRONT UPPER CONSOLE BOX . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 27
- REMOVE NO. 2 SWITCH HOLE BASE . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 28
- REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET
- REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 4
- REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 32
- REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 33
- REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 34
- REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the control shift cable from the shift lever assembly.
- Disconnect the control select cable from the shift lever assembly.
- Using a screwdriver, pull out the stopper of the transmission control cable.

NOTE:Do not remove the stopper. If it is removed, reinstall it to its original position.
- Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable from the shift lever retainer.

NOTE:Do not rotate the nut excessively as it will come off the internal spring and the transmission control cable will not be reusable.
- Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 transmission control cables from the control cable bracket *1.
- Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 transmission control cables from the transaxle *2.
- Remove the nut, and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly.
- Remove the 2 nuts and transmission control cable assembly.
