Transmission Control Cable: Removal: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  2. REMOVE BATTERY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 13
  3. REMOVE BATTERY TRAY 
  4. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 14
  5. REMOVE NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD COVER  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 10
  6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
  7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 12
  8. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
  9. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the 3 nuts and remove the No. 1 front floor heat insulator.

  10. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 8
  11. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 17
  12. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 19
  13. REMOVE FRONT UPPER CONSOLE BOX  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 27
  14. REMOVE NO. 2 SWITCH HOLE BASE  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 28
  15. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET 
  16. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 4
  17. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 32
  18. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 33
  19. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 34
  20. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the control shift cable from the shift lever assembly.

    2. Disconnect the control select cable from the shift lever assembly.
    3. Using a screwdriver, pull out the stopper of the transmission control cable.

      NOTE:

      Do not remove the stopper. If it is removed, reinstall it to its original position.

    4. Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable from the shift lever retainer.

      NOTE:

      Do not rotate the nut excessively as it will come off the internal spring and the transmission control cable will not be reusable.

    5. Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 transmission control cables from the control cable bracket *1.

    6. Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 transmission control cables from the transaxle *2.
    7. Remove the nut, and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly.

    8. Remove the 2 nuts and transmission control cable assembly.
