Center Airbag Sensor Assembly: Installation: Installation

  1. INSTALL CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Using SST, install the center airbag sensor assembly with the 3 bolts.

      • SST: 09961-00950 

      without SST 

      Torque: 18 N*m (184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf) 

      with SST 

      Torque: 11 N*m (112 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 250 mm (9.84 in.).
      • This torque value is effective when SST is parallel to a torque wrench.
      • If the center airbag sensor assembly has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace it with a new one.
      • When installing the center airbag sensor assembly, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.
      • When the ignition switch is first turned to ON after the center airbag sensor assembly has been replaced, make sure that no one is in the vehicle.
    4. Connect the holder (with connectors).
      NOTE:

      When connecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    5. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the center airbag sensor assembly.
    6. Check that the waterproof sheet is properly set.

  8. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 20
  9. INSTALL CENTER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 21
  10. INSTALL CENTER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 22
  11. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 23
  12. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 24

  15. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  16. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Inspect the SRS warning light. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
