Tire Pressure Warning System: Initialization: Initialization

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2011 Toyota Matrix. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. DESCRIPTION OF INITIALIZATION
    1. Perform initialization in the following cases:
      • Before delivery of a new vehicle.
      • After replacement of the tire pressure warning ECU*.
      • After a tire rotation (for 4WD models).
      • After replacement of any of the tire pressure warning valve and transmitters*.
      • After a different size or type of tire is fitted.

*: Perform initialization after transmitter ID registration is completed. Refer to REGISTRATION .

    2. Before initialization
      1. Set all tire pressures to the specified value(s). Refer to PRECAUTION .
        NOTE:

Make sure the tires are cold.

  2. INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE
    1. Adjust all tire pressures to the standard tire inflation pressure, as indicated on the tire and loading information label on the vehicle.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Push and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch for 3 seconds or more so that the tire pressure warning light blinks 3 times.

    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    7. Turn the Techstream on.
    8. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Tire Pressure Monitor / Data List.
    9. Check that initialization has been completed.
    10. Confirm that tire pressure data of all wheels are displayed on the Techstream.

      NOTE:
      • Initialization normally completes within 2 or 3 minutes.
      • If initialization did not complete successfully, DTC C2177/77 will be set after a vehicle speed 8 km/h (5 mph) or more continues for 20 minutes or more.
      • Initialization can be terminated by connecting terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.
