DTC B2288: Steering Lock Signal Circuit Malfunction: Procedure

- CHECK FOR DTC
- Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
- After all DTCs are cleared, check if the trouble occurs again 18 to 22 seconds after the engine switch is turned on (IG).
- Check for DTCs again.

- CHECK STEERING LOCK
- Check if the steering lock is released when turning the engine switch on (ACC).
HINT:
The starting function may not operate after recharging or while jump-starting a discharged battery. This condition is most common if the battery voltage drops below 9 V.

- Check if the steering lock is released when turning the engine switch on (ACC).
- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Check the Data List for proper functioning of the steering lock function.
HINT:
When using the Techstream with the engine switch off, turn on and off any of the door courtesy light switches repeatedly at 1.5 second intervals or less until communication between the Techstream and vehicle starts.

- GO TO STEERING LOCK SYSTEM. Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
- REPLACE STEERING LOCK ECU. Refer to DISASSEMBLY - Step 1
