Spiral Cable: Installation: Installation

  1. INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE 
    1. Engage the 6 claws and 2 pins, and install the spiral cable to the steering angle sensor.

  2. INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR 
    1. Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.
    2. Set the turn signal switch to the neutral position.
      NOTE:

      If it is not in the neutral position, the turn signal switch pin may be snapped.

    3. Install the spiral cable with steering angle sensor with the 3 claws.

      NOTE:

      When replacing the spiral cable with a new one, remove the lock pin before installing the steering wheel assembly.

    4. Connect the connectors to the spiral cable with steering angle sensor.
      NOTE:

      When connecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  3. INSTALL UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 12
  4. INSTALL LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 13
  5. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 13
  6. INSTALL NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 14
  7. INSTALL LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (for Manual Transaxle)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 15
  8. INSTALL LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (for Automatic Transaxle)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 16
  9. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 17
  10. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 18
  11. INSTALL FRONT CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (for 2WD)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  12. INSTALL FRONT CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (for 4WD)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 2
  13. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX CARPET 
  14. INSTALL NO. 2 SWITCH HOLE BASE  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 22
  15. INSTALL FRONT UPPER CONSOLE BOX  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 23
  16. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 4
  17. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 5
  18. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 6
  19. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 7
  20. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 8
  21. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 9
  22. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 17
  23. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE 
    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Rotate the spiral cable counterclockwise slowly by hand until it stops.

      NOTE:

      Do not turn the spiral cable using the airbag wire harness.

    4. Rotate the spiral cable clockwise approximately 2.5 turns to align the marks.

      NOTE:

      Do not turn the spiral cable using the airbag wire harness.

      HINT: 

      The spiral cable will rotate approximately 2.5 turns to both the left and right from the center.

  24. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 9
  25. INSTALL STEERING PAD  See step  1
  26. INSTALL LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER  See step  2
  27. INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER  See step  3
  28. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT 
  29. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  30. INSPECT STEERING PAD  See step  5
  31. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Inspect the SRS warning light. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
