Footwell Light Circuit: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test.
    5. Check that the footwell lights come on.
      MAIN BODY

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Fr Foot Light Footwell lights ON/OFF Precondition for using the Active Test to turn lights on and off:
      • Power switch is turned off just before performing the Active Test.

      OK

      Footwell lights come on.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   6 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AUXILIARY BATTERY - NO. 1 INTERIOR ILLUMINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. for Front LH
      1. Disconnect the L152 No. 1 interior illumination light assembly LH (footwell light) connector.
      2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Voltage

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        L152-2 (B) - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V
    2. for Front RH
      1. Disconnect the L132 No. 1 interior illumination light assembly RH (footwell light) connector.
      2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Voltage

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        L132-2 (B) - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 INTERIOR ILLUMINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. for Front LH
      1. Disconnect the 2B instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        L152-1 (L) - 2B-18 Always Below 1 Ω
        L152-1 (L) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    2. for Front RH
      1. Disconnect the 2B instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        L132-1 (L) - 2B-17 Always Below 1 Ω
        L132-1 (L) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the instrument panel junction block assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2B-17 - MB-26 (FSPT) Always Below 1 Ω
      2B-18 - MB-26 (FSPT) Always Below 1 Ω

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Instrument Panel Junction Block Assembly)

    NG → See step   7 

    OK → See step   5 

  5. REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  6. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  
  7. REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
